Last year, our Lenten worship series provided various experiences that focused on different faith practices like prayer and service. Participants painted crosses, made prayer beads, packed hygiene items for people in need and more. The feedback from this series was very positive:
“I enjoyed the Lenten series very much and found them to be inspiring and calming. I would invite members to come and have told people that my experience personally was therapeutic and meditative.”
“I really liked and appreciated the Lenten worship services this year. You know I like craft projects and I thought the projects this year were really good. They really showed the meaning of the Lent season, yet were something that could be shown year round….I also used the cross painting and the prayer beads at my fathers funeral service as part of his memory.”
Similarly this year, St. James will offer a variety of Lenten opportunities for the congregation and community. We will include some day time opportunities and zoom options for those who do not drive in the dark.
We will begin Lent with Ash Wednesday. A soup and sandwich lunch will begin at noon followed by a 1:00 worship service and worship at 7:00pm. Sign up sheets are in the hallway for the lunch, painting and movies.
